ISLAMABAD: iPhone users in Pakistan will not be able to use 5G until 2027, Apple has apologized for enabling the option.
According to media reports, disappointing news has come for technology enthusiasts and iPhone users in Pakistan. According to reports, Apple has apologized for enabling the 5G option on its handsets in Pakistan for now and has given a target of 2027 for it.
Officials of the Ministry of IT and Telecom said that Apple has informed Pakistani authorities that it will provide support for 5G services for iPhone users only after assessing the market size in 2027.
Experts say that Apple’s market in Pakistan has shrunk due to heavy taxes on imported mobile phones, especially iPhones, which is a major reason for the company’s delay in providing services.
On the other hand, 5G services are already available on Samsung smartphones.
The government completed a $507 million auction of 5G spectrum in March this year, aimed at improving the speed and quality of internet across the country, selling a total of 480 megahertz (MHz) of spectrum.
Telecom industry officials say all operators have placed orders for the equipment needed to launch 5G services and some have even started trial services in certain areas. However, iPhone users may have to wait more than a year to benefit from the advanced technology.
