OPPO Reno12 series launched in Pakistan but is it worth the price?

LAHORE: OPPO, the mobile manufacturer, launched OPPO’s First AI smartphone, the Reno12 series, including three variants Reno12 F 4G, Reno12 F 5G, and Reno12 5G in an exclusive event in Lahore today.

Equipped with smart AI features and protected by the robust All-Round Armour, the AI-packed and durable Reno12 F, is now available for pre-order from August 5, with a starting price of PKR 69,999 for Reno12 F 4G.

Specs of Oppo Reno12 series

The OPPO Reno12 series supports Smart Image Matting 2.0 enabling precise multi-subject cutouts that you can now also save for future use. For enhanced productivity, the phone includes AI tools such as AI Recording Summary, AI Writer, AI Summary, and AI Speak. These tools are accessible via the AI Toolbox sidebar, increasing user efficiency.

Despite its stylish appearance, the Reno12 series is incredibly durable, fortified with All-Round Armour. This includes an advanced glass screen, a High-strength Alloy Framework, and a Sponge Bionic Cushioning structure, providing inside-out protection. OPPO Reno12 F is rated for IP64 Water and Dust Resistance and certified for 5 Stars in SGS Performance Multi-Scene Protection Testing.

Beyond its suite of GenAI Features, OPPO Reno12 F elevates the photography experience with an Ultra-Clear Camera System designed to capture sharp and natural portraits. The devices feature a 50MP Main Camera, a 2MP Macro Camera, a 112-degree 8MP Ultra-Wide-Angle camera, and a 32MP selfie camera.

The Reno12 F models boast a robust 5,000mAh battery and 45W SUPERVOOCTM Flash Charge, ensuring extended connectivity. Both devices come with ColorOS 14.0.1. The Reno12 F 4G offers 8GB of RAM and 256GB of ROM. The Reno12 F 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 Platform, featuring 12GB of RAM and 256GB of ROM for seamless performance.

Reno12 F 4G is available in Amber Orange, Olive Green, and Matte Gray whereas Reno12 F 5G is available in Amber Orange and Olive Green colors. OPPO Reno12 F is available with a starting price of PKR 69,999.

Oppo Reno 12 series, Is it worth it?

The price at which Oppo is bringing the Reno12 series into the market is not a favorable choice. There are better options available in the market with good features and lower rates such as Vivo V30 5G.

The Vivo V30 5G is packed with cutting-edge features tailored to enhance user experiences. Featuring Aura Light Portrait, a 50MP Ultra-Wide Angle Camera, 12GB + 12GB Extended RAM, and powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon® 7 Gen 3 processor, the V30 5G ensures unparalleled performance.

While both Reno12 series and Vivo V30 5G pack a similar 5,000mAh battery capacity with 80W charging speeds, their real-life results are completely different. In our testing, the Vivo V30 took 47 minutes to fully charge from 20 percent to 100 percent, while the OPPO Reno 12 did the same in just 40 minutes.

For camera quality, both phones have a 50MP primary camera, the Vivo V30 offers a better 50MP front shooter than the OPPO Reno 12’s 32MP front snapper. Moreover, the Vivo V30 also has a 50MP ultrawide camera compared to the OPPO Reno 12’s 8MP ultrawide lens. These high-resolution sensors will result in better details in pictures.

Overall, the Vivo V30 is the better camera phone of the two, thanks to its high-resolution ultrawide and front cameras, and Aura ring light for better low-light photography.
