Air India Flight Error caused major trouble for passengers traveling from New Delhi to Canada. The flight stayed in the air for nearly eight hours before returning.

The incident happened on Wednesday. Flight AI 185 left New Delhi at 11:34 AM for Vancouver. The journey started normally without any issue.

However, after around four hours, the aircraft reached near Kunming in Chinese airspace. At that point, the airline discovered a serious operational mistake.

Reports say the airline used a Boeing 777-200LR aircraft. But this aircraft was not approved for landing in Canada.

According to aviation rules, some countries only allow specific aircraft types or registered planes to land. Air India reportedly has approval only for Boeing 777-300ER for such routes.

After realizing the Air India Flight Error, the airline decided to return the plane immediately. The aircraft spent a total of 7 hours and 54 minutes in the air before landing back in New Delhi.

Air India called the situation an “operational issue.” The airline said the decision was taken following standard safety procedures.

Passengers were provided hotel stay and other facilities. The airline also arranged another flight, which departed the next day.

The exact number of passengers on board has not been shared in reports.
