Israel White Phosphorus Attack in Lebanon has raised serious concerns after a new report by Human Rights Watch. The report claims that Israeli forces used white phosphorus shells over populated areas in southern Lebanon.

According to the organisation, verified images show that shells containing white phosphorus were fired over a residential area in Yohmor on March 3.

The report says the shells caused fires in at least two houses in the area. These homes were located inside a civilian neighbourhood.

Human Rights Watch researcher for Lebanon, Ramzi Kaiss, said the use of such weapons in populated areas is deeply worrying.

He explained that white phosphorus ignites immediately when it comes into contact with oxygen. Because of this, it can easily start fires in homes, farmland, and other civilian property.

The organisation also said it verified several images and videos using geolocation techniques. These visuals reportedly show artillery shells spreading white phosphorus above residential areas.

Meanwhile, the situation in Lebanon remains tense due to continued Israeli attacks.

Reports say that Israeli airstrikes have killed at least 394 people so far. More than 1,000 others have been injured.

The conflict has also forced hundreds of thousands of people to leave their homes and move to safer areas.

Human Rights Watch has called on Israel’s allies, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany, to suspend arms supplies to Israel.

The organisation also demanded an independent investigation into the alleged use of white phosphorus in civilian areas.
