Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced Overseas Pakistanis Civil Awards for 16 expatriates in recognition of their services and investments. The announcement fulfills his earlier commitment to honor Pakistanis living abroad who support the country.
The government confirmed that the Overseas Pakistanis Civil Awards will be presented during the Pakistan Day ceremony. This national event takes place every year on March 23 in Pakistan. Officials said the selected individuals belong to different countries and have played an important role in promoting Pakistan internationally.
According to the prime minister, these overseas Pakistanis have contributed through business, investment, and community work. As a result, they helped improve Pakistan’s image abroad. Moreover, the government believes their efforts strengthened economic and social ties with other nations.
Earlier in April 2025, Shehbaz Sharif had promised to introduce civil awards for overseas Pakistanis. He said those who invest and serve the country deserve national recognition. Therefore, this latest step aims to fulfill that promise and encourage more overseas Pakistanis.
In addition, the government has introduced a new incentive package for expatriates and their families. This package offers several facilities to support overseas Pakistanis. Officials said the goal is to make their connection with Pakistan stronger and more secure.
As part of the plan, authorities will issue a modern membership card for overseas Pakistanis. This next-generation card includes advanced security features. It will also help expatriates access benefits and services more easily.
Furthermore, the government hopes these steps will increase overseas investment. Officials believe that recognition and incentives will motivate more Pakistanis abroad to contribute. At the same time, the awards show appreciation for their continued support.
Overall, the announcement highlights the government’s effort to value overseas Pakistanis. It also reflects their important role in national development. The awards ceremony on Pakistan Day will formally honor their achievements and services.
