The Pakistan Ramadan moon forecast indicates that the holy month is likely to begin on February 19, 2026, following a strong possibility of crescent sighting the previous evening, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

Officials said the new moon is expected to be born on February 17 at 5:01 pm. As a result, visibility conditions on February 18 appear favorable for observers across parts of the country.

Meteorologists noted that the crescent will be about 26 hours old by the time skies are scanned on February 18. Typically, a moon must be at least 19 hours old to be visible, which strengthens the likelihood of confirmation that evening.

In Karachi, sunset is forecast for around 6:25 pm, creating an adequate observation window shortly afterward. Experts believe the coastal city could be among the most promising locations for sighting due to these timing conditions.

However, weather may play a role. The department expects partly cloudy conditions in many regions, which could reduce visibility in some areas despite otherwise favorable astronomical factors.

The Pakistan Ramadan moon forecast remains provisional because the official start of the Islamic month depends on verified testimony and a formal announcement. Religious authorities traditionally confirm the beginning of Ramadan after receiving authenticated reports of moon sightings.

Astronomical projections have increasingly supported these estimates. Experts say calculations based on moon birth and visibility parameters help predict likely dates, but they do not replace the established moon-sighting process followed nationwide.

Ramadan holds deep spiritual importance for Muslims, marking a period of fasting, prayer, charity, and reflection. Preparations typically begin weeks in advance as families organize routines around suhoor and iftar, while mosques finalize special prayer arrangements.

If the crescent is confirmed on February 18, Pakistanis will observe their first fast the next day. Still, authorities emphasize that citizens should await the official declaration before making final plans.

With anticipation building, the latest forecast offers an early indication of when the sacred month may commence. Yet, as in previous years, the final decision will rest on the traditional sighting of the Ramadan moon.
