ISLAMABAD: The government has indicated that petroleum prices relief Pakistan may be announced soon, once the situation in the Gulf region stabilizes and external pressures ease. The assurance was given during a high-level meeting of coalition partners in Parliament House on Tuesday.
The meeting was chaired by Khawaja Asif. Senior leaders from the ruling alliance attended the session to review the recent rise in fuel prices and discuss future strategy.
Officials told participants that the increase in petroleum prices was due to exceptional global conditions. They added that the government plans to reduce prices as soon as the situation returns to normal.
Key ministers, including Muhammad Aurangzeb, Ahsan Iqbal, Ali Pervaiz Malik, and Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, briefed coalition leaders on the current economic and fuel supply situation.
Leaders from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Pakistan Peoples Party, and Muttahida Qaumi Movement also participated in the discussion.
During the briefing, ministers highlighted steps taken to ensure uninterrupted petroleum supply across the country. They also shared plans to manage the impact of global market pressures on local fuel prices.
After the meeting, officials said coalition partners expressed confidence in the government’s policies. They supported the steps taken to handle the economic situation and maintain stability.
The session also focused on future planning and coordination among coalition parties. Leaders stressed the need for a united political approach to tackle economic challenges and protect consumers.
Authorities reiterated that once global conditions improve, the government will move towards reducing petroleum prices. This could bring much-needed relief to citizens facing rising fuel costs.
