After purchasing a used, or imported mobile device in Pakistan, the first step is to get its IMEI number confirmed with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
If your device is not recognized by the authority, it may be blocked after a specific amount of time, and you will be unable to use it on any cellular network in the country.
If you do not want your cell phone to be blocked, you may need to register it with PTA by paying the applicable taxes on your device. The process is straightforward and may be completed online in a few simple steps.

Users must provide the IMEI number(s) of their device(s) to register and pay taxes. The IMEI number can be found by opening the back of the device or by dialing *#06#. Users should select the correct option based on the number of SIM slots in their device and provide the IMEI number for each slot.
Once the IMEI numbers are submitted, the system will generate a unique Payment Slip Identity (PSID), which users will use to pay taxes and dues to ensure PTA compliance.
Payment of PTA mobile taxes can be made online through direct bank transfer, various mobile wallet services, ATMs, and bank branches of major commercial banks in Pakistan.
