RAWALPINDI: A 12-year-old domestic worker was subjected to severe torture in Bani area of Rawalpindi. The girl’s condition is critical, and she is undergoing treatment in the hospital.
Taking notice of the incident, CPO Syed Khalid Hamdani directed SP Rawal to submit a report while DSP Waris Khan was directed to take immediate legal action.
In an immediate response, the police have taken the couple involved in the abuse into custody, and investigations are underway. Initial findings indicate that the incident took place 4-5 days ago, however, the girl was brought to the hospital today. Her condition remains critical.
The victim’s father has passed away, the police will register a case. CPO Syed Khalid Hamdani stressed that according to the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, child abuse is unacceptable in any form.
He assured that there is a zero tolerance policy for crimes against children and those responsible will face strict punishment.
The girl reportedly worked at the home of Rashid Shafiq, who works at a garment shop. She sustained injuries on her head, ankles, legs and arms due to the alleged violence. Her father had died a month ago, while her mother is in her ‘iddat’ (pregnancy period).
Police said a woman who was teaching the girl Quran lessons took her to the hospital after seeing her deteriorating condition.
The couple has been taken into custody, and further questioning is underway, including that of the woman who brought the child to the hospital.
