ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has disqualified 13 political parties from competing for seats in the National Assembly, a spokesperson confirmed. The move impacts party representation in the upcoming assembly significantly.
According to the Election Commission spokesperson, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is likely to secure 20 seats, while the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is expected to secure 13 seats. The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) is projected to gain five specific seats, while the fate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) 27 specific seats remains uncertain and subject to the Election Commission’s decision.
Among the 13 parties disqualified from specific seat allocation are Jamaat-e-Islami, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F), Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), Awami National Party (ANP), Islami Party Pakistan, Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal, Grand Democratic Alliance, and Milli Muslim League.
