MASTUNG:  Sardar Akhtar Mengal, Chief of Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M), announced an end to his 20-day-long sit-in at Lakpass during his press conference.

The Nationalist Party started the long march from Wadh to Quetta on 28 March against the extrajudicial arrest of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee’s (BYC) leaders Dr.Mahrang Baloch, Sammi deen Baloch, and other prominent activists and the crackdown on their sit-in in Quetta.

Earlier, during the Sit-in, Mengal’s party and the government had three rounds of talks, but none of them came to a comprehensive end.

“We believe in a peaceful struggle. We are not ending the movement but will initiate a public outreach movement from today.” Mengal, while addressing the press conference.

We will hold more protests and rallies across the province for our due rights, he added.

On the other hand, the Balochistan High Court (BHC) rejected the bail plea of  Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) leader Dr.Mahrang Baloch and other activists on Tuesday.

The verdict was announced by a bench led by Balochistan High Court Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmed Swati and Justice Muhammad Amir Nawaz Raja.

The  Court disposed of the petition filed, asking the petitioner to approach the relevant forum.

The petition was filed by Mahrang Baloch’s sister Nadia Baloch, the BYC leader, and other activists were booked under MPO.

Earlier, the Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Thursday reserved its verdict on a petition seeking the release of Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) chief organiser Dr Mahrang Baloch and other BYC activists.
