RAWALAKOT: Tragedy struck in Rawalakot as a coaster carrying passengers plummeted into a gorge near the Azad Pattan Pana Bridge, due to high speeding, resulting in the fatalities of all passengers.

The vehicle was traveling from Rawalpindi to Rawalakot when the accident occurred. The vehicle left Rawalakot by taking passengers from Rawalpindi in the morning and reached near Azadpatan Panah bridge where the vehicle went out of control due to high speeding and fell into a deep ditch.

Initial reports stated that there were at least 25 people killed in the incident and others were described as in critical condition.

Later on, all 30 passengers were announced dead. Rescue efforts are currently underway to transport the deceased to the hospital.

This incident comes on the heels of another recent accident in Gilgit Baltistan’s Chilas region, where seven laborers working on the Diamer Bhasha Dam project lost their lives when their vehicle fell into a ditch on August 19.

The laborers, identified as Yousuf, Ehsanullah, Muhibullah, Sajjad, Sajjad, and Mujeebullah, were traveling in a Mazda vehicle that lost control and fell into the ravine, leaving one survivor critically injured.
