Bus carrying Pakistani pilgrims from Iran crashes in Makran, Balochistan

BALOCHISTAN: Tragedy struck again as a bus carrying Pakistani pilgrims from Iran crashed into a gorge on the Coastal Highway in Makran, Balochistan, resulting in the death of at least 10 people, with the fear of rising death toll.

The vehicle carrying pilgrims from Iran veered off the road and plummeted into a ravine due to a suspected brake failure. The deceased, coming from Lahore and Gujranwala, were pronounced dead at the scene, while the injured were swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention

According to Edhi rescue sources, reports stated that there were 10 deceased and 23 others were injured in the incident. The victims were transported to the District Headquarters Hospital Othal, Where their condition is defined as critical.

This incident comes on the heels of another devastating bus accident in Iran’s Yazd province, which claimed the lives of 28 Pakistani pilgrims en route to Iraq for the Arbaeen pilgrimage.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed her condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the swift recovery of the wounded.

The Iranian and Pakistani foreign ministries have also sympathized with the affected families.

Funeral prayers were held at Shahbaz Airbase, attended by officials and families of the victims. Sindh CM announced compensation for the victims of the Iran bus crash.
