LAHORE: The government of Punjab province will provide interest-free loans to 12000 additional families through its “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” program according to Bilal Yaseen who serves as the Provincial Housing Minister.
The government has provided interest-free loans to low-income families for home construction which total over Rs 191 billion according to Bilal Yaseen.
The initiative ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ is part of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz’s housing vision. The Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency director general Sikandar Zeeshan received a program update from the minister about the financial aid program which has already disbursed funds to135410 families.
Building work for 42000 additional homes continues while more than 91000 completed houses exist according to officials who expect all homes to finish construction by the current financial year.
More than 117 million people have submitted applications to the program according to officials who mentioned that public interest in the program has grown significantly.
The authorities demonstrated the scheme’s financial discipline through their recovery of over Rs 10 billion in monthly payments which showed both timely repayment and continued program viability.
Bilal Yaseen explained that the initiative ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ aims to deliver affordable housing for underprivileged people while the government works to establish transparent processes which will help eligible applicants gain access to housing.
