Rawalpindi: Pakistan’s military leadership in a resolute stance has declared a steadfast commitment to preventing violence under the guise of political activity, reaffirming the sanctity of the democratic process as the country gears up for the upcoming general elections.
At the 262nd Corps Commanders’ Conference chaired by Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir at General Headquarters, Rawalpindi, the top brass emphasized the Pakistan Army’s role in assisting the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to ensure the peaceful conduct of the elections scheduled for February 8.
In a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military’s media wing, the army reiterated its dedication to upholding constitutional mandates and ensuring a conducive environment for free and fair elections. Any attempts to disrupt the democratic exercise with violence will not be tolerated, the statement affirmed.
The conference also paid tribute to the sacrifices of martyrs from the armed forces, law enforcement agencies, and civilians who have laid down their lives to safeguard peace and stability in the nation.
Addressing security concerns stemming from recent grenade and gun attacks targeting candidates and election rallies, especially in KP and Balochistan, the forum underscored the importance of maintaining security for over 128 million voters and contestants.

The military leadership reaffirmed its commitment to combating terrorism and its backers, vowing to deal with them decisively to ensure Pakistan’s stability. General Munir reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering stance on sovereignty and territorial integrity, emphasizing that the country remains committed to peaceful coexistence with all nations while safeguarding its own sovereignty and national honor.
The conference also discussed India’s alleged state-sponsored terrorism and human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), pledging Pakistan’s support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination as per relevant UNSC resolutions.

Additionally, the forum reiterated support for Palestine, calling for a permanent ceasefire and a lasting solution to the Palestinian question. Steps against illegal activities and criminal mafias, along with the economy’s positive trajectory, were also acknowledged.
The conference concluded with a briefing on operational preparedness, with General Munir urging formation commanders to maintain focus on soldier training, administration, and morale, ensuring readiness to uphold Pakistan’s security and stability.
