Ayaz felicitates Christian community on Christmas

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq extended warm Christmas greetings to Christian members of Parliament and the Christian community across Pakistan, describing the festival as a symbol of love, sacrifice, peace, tolerance and service to humanity.
In his message, the Speaker said that Christmas conveys a universal message of compassion and harmony, while the teachings of Hazrat Isa (AS), based on patience, tolerance, mercy, and love for humanity, remain highly relevant in promoting mutual respect and sustainable peace in today’s world.
He said that Pakistan is a multi-religious and multicultural society where the Constitution guarantees all citizens, without any discrimination, complete religious freedom, equal rights, and full protection.
The Speaker acknowledged the valuable contributions of the Christian community since the creation of Pakistan, particularly in the fields of education, healthcare, social welfare, national defence, and other key sectors, adding that these services are recognised and appreciated by the entire nation.
Emphasising the importance of unity, Ayaz Sadiq said that interfaith harmony, tolerance, and mutual respect form the foundation of a peaceful, strong, and stable society.
He reaffirmed Parliament’s commitment to fulfilling its constitutional and legal responsibilities for the protection of minorities’ rights, their welfare, and their equal inclusion in the national mainstream.
Ayaz Sadiq said that Christmas serves as a reminder that national progress and prosperity lie in promoting unity, love, and peace despite differences.
Deputy Speaker National Assembly Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah also extended Christmas greetings to the Christian community.
In his message, he said that the protection of minorities and the promotion of religious harmony are integral to Pakistan’s democratic values and constitutional spirit.
He highlighted the constructive and positive role played by the Christian community in strengthening national unity, social stability, and the country’s development.
The Deputy Speaker reiterated Parliament’s resolve to continue working with seriousness and consistency for the protection of minority rights, the promotion of religious tolerance, and the further strengthening of interfaith harmony across the country.
