MUZAFFARABAD: Preparations for the upcoming elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir have formally begun, with authorities initiating the compilation of updated voter lists.

According to officials, the registration of new voters is currently in progress, alongside a comprehensive door-to-door verification campaign to ensure accuracy and transparency in the electoral rolls.

The deadline for voter registration has been set as April 1, 2026, and eligible citizens are being encouraged to complete their enrollment before the closing date.

In this regard, the Chief Election Commissioner has convened an important consultative meeting on March 28, where discussions will be held with political parties on the implementation of the code of conduct for the elections.

Officials also confirmed that refugees from Jammu and Kashmir will be included in the voter lists, ensuring broader representation in the electoral process.
