ISLAMABAD: At the invitation of PM Shebhaz Sharif, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will undertake a two-day official visit to Pakistan from Thursday (today).
During the visit, the President of Azerbaijan will hold meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, the Foreign Office said in a press release.
The two sides will engage in wide-ranging discussions on areas of mutual interest to further strengthen bilateral cooperation. Several Agreements and MoUs are expected to be signed during the visit.
The visit of Azeri President Ilham Aliyev reflects the robust cooperation and leadership-level dialogue between the two countries.
President Aliyev’s visit follows an inaugural Pakistan-Turkiye-Azerbaijan trilateral summit in Kazakhstan this month on the sideline of the 24th meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The trilateral summit was attended by Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. At the summit, PM Sharif proposed the establishment of tripartite institutional mechanisms in economic and investment areas to further strengthen cooperation among the three nations.
