BISP quarterly installment to be increased to Rs 18,000 from next fiscal year

ISLAMABAD: The Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) has decided to increase the quarterly stipend to Rs 18,000, and all payments will be made through digital wallets from July.

According to the details, the federal government has taken a major decision to increase the quarterly assistance amount given to deserving families under the Benazir Income Support Program to Rs 18,000 from the next financial year.

This move aims to provide additional financial relief to poor families with low incomes in view of rising inflation across the country.

While formally announcing this historic increase, Benazir Income Support Program Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid said that BISP is the largest and key source of economic support for the poor and disadvantaged sections of the country and the financial independence of women.

Rejecting the negative propaganda being made against the program, she clarified that the government will ensure the protection of the rights of the deserving families at all costs.

He said that this increase in the stipend is part of the government’s efforts to strengthen social security measures, which will be implemented regularly from the next financial year.

Announcing another major revolutionary step to bring transparency in the program, the BISP Chairperson said that from July 1, money transfer to all beneficiaries will be done through digital wallets instead of traditional methods.

According to sources, the scope of BISP is being further expanded, under which now unmarried women above the age of 35 will also be included in this social welfare program and provided with financial assistance.
