MIRPURKHAS: In a major scandal, the list of wives of government employees who benefited from the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) in Mirpurkhas district surfaced on social media on Wednesday.

The beneficiaries include wives of employees and officers of the Education Department from grades one to 18.

According to the list, the wives of 72 employees of the Education Department in Mirpurkhas district received money from this program for the beneficiaries.

According to the District Education Officer, the salaries of the employees who benefited from BISP will be deducted, and the full amount will be returned to BISP soon.

The wives of the employees and officers have received money ranging from 2 thousand to 190 thousand each.

Earlier, the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) introduced a retail-based payment system to distribute quarterly installments to the recipients.

The new payment methodology is effective from the issuance of the BISP Quarter 4 installment. This development comes after the persisting heatwave situation in Pakistan, with an objective to provide a safer and more respectable ambiance to the beneficiaries.

Contrary to the earlier camp-based approach, the new system will facilitate beneficiaries to receive their cash grants at sponsored retail outlets with biometric identification systems.

The revised mechanism also offers increased transparency through the issuance of printed receipts during payment.
