Brazilian woman arrested with cocaine worth Rs 13.9m at Karachi airport

KARACHI:  In a recent groundbreaking operation, the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) arrested a Brazilian woman with cocaine at Jinnah International Airport on Thursday.

According to the sources, the Brazilian woman smuggled 1.396 kilograms of cocaine valued at approximately Rs 13.9 million.

The suspect arrived at the Karachi airport via a private airline where the ANF team searched her belongings and discovered cocaine concealed in plastic bags.

The ANF has registered a case against the accused under the Anti-Narcotics Act.

Earlier, a similar case was reported against a passenger named Iqbal Hussain who took the flight to Jeddah from Peshawar airport, where he got arrested by the airport security force for possessing 1,210 Kg of ICE (drug) in his luggage.

According to the officials, the suspect effectively stored the drug in thin layers amongst boxes of sweets and chocolates.

Later, the arrested individuals after the initial investigation were handed over to ANF officials along with the recovered drugs as evidence for further legal action.
