Karachi airport to ‘impose’ strict entry requirements for visitors

Karachi airport impose strict entry requirements

KARACHI: The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has planned to introduce stricter entry requirements to ramp up security at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport.

The decision followed last month’s attack on a road near the airport, killing a total of three people — including two Chinese nationals — and injuring at least 16 others.

As per new regulations, the visitors showing up at the Karachi airport to receive or see off passengers will be required to carry a copy of the airline ticket at security checkpoints, sources said.

PAA’s new directives added that each passenger will be allowed a maximum of four individuals to enter the airport, the sources said, adding that individuals without a ticket copy will be prohibited from entering the Karachi airport premises.

Additionally, those receiving passengers must carry their own Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) for identification with the ticket.
