Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee to meet for moon sighting of Muharramul Haram today

QUETTA: A meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has been called in Quetta for the sighting of the moon of Muharramul Haram, according to media reports.

The meeting will be chaired by Moulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, the chairman of the committee, with the representatives from the relevant departments, according to the notification.

The regional and zonal committees will also meet on Thursday for the sighting of the moon at their respective headquarters.

Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) anticipated the  Muharramul Haram 1447 moon sightings on the evening of June 26 and the first day of the month, and the new Hijri year on June 27.

The country is expected to observe Youm-e-Ashur (10th of Muharram) on July 6.

According to a statement from the Suparco, the crescent of Muharramul Haram 1447 Hijri is anticipated to be born on June 25 at 3:32 PM and will be about 28:15 hours old at the end of the day on June 26.

“At coastal areas, the expected time between sunset and moonset will be 75 minutes,” a Suparco spokesperson stated.
