Chachran on red alert as Indus River floods peak

CHACHRAN: After wreaking havoc in Punjab, the waters of the Chenab and Sutlej rivers are moving towards Sindh.

The Indus River is currently in high flood at Chachran, with a water flow of 837,000 cusecs recorded.

The water level is also rising in the Guddu Barrage, with a current flow of 537,000 cusecs.

According to officials, 24 to 36 hours are crucial, as very high floods can occur during this time.

A flood of 422,000 cusecs is flowing at Sukkur Barrage and 261,000 cusecs at Kotri.

On the other hand, the water level in the rivers of Punjab is decreasing. The flow of water at the Chenab River at Head Panjnad has decreased by 80,000 cusecs to 604,000 cusecs.

The water level at Chiniot, Jasar, Siddhanai, and Head Baloki has also decreased. The flood pressure has also broken at Head Khanki, Qadirabad, Trimon and Ganda Singh Wala.
