Charsadda cleric killing: CCTV leads police to Afghan suspect

PESHAWAR: A suspect has been identified with the help of CCTV images in connection with the martyrdom of Maulana Muhammad Idrees.

Police say that the police and CTD investigation is ongoing in the case of Maulana Muhammad Idrees‘ martyrdom in Charsadda, the process of identifying the suspects has been accelerated with the help of CCTV images, and one suspect has been identified with the help of the images.

Investigative officials say that the terrorist belongs to Afghanistan, the entire network is being traced, apparently this murder was planned in Afghanistan.

Police say that raids were conducted in Akbar Pura and Nowshera to arrest the identified terrorist, and a police search operation is also underway in the suburbs of Charsadda.

Police officials also say that the identified terrorist involved in the attack has turned out to be an operative of a banned organization, and the statement of the driver of the car of martyr Sheikh Idrees has also been recorded.

Contact is being made to obtain data of mobile calls used at the scene, police say that the investigation team has written a letter to the relevant agencies for the call data.

The police have also decided to include the accused in old high-profile cases of Mardan region in the investigation, the scope of the investigation has been expanded and the process of tracking and profiling of suspicious vehicles has been started. Police say that work is underway on further profile and data of the identified terrorist.
