ISLAMABAD:  Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says he is grateful to US President Donald Trump for his courageous leadership to temporarily halt Project Freedom.

In his statement on social media, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif wrote that President Trump’s positive response to the request of Pakistan and other brotherly countries, especially the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman, will play an important role in promoting peace, stability, and reconciliation in the region during this critical period.

Shehbaz Sharif says that Pakistan is committed to fully supporting all efforts that promote the peaceful resolution of disputes through tolerance, dialogue, and diplomacy.

We hope that the current progress will pave the way for a lasting agreement that will ensure sustainable peace and stability in the region and beyond.

Trump’s Halts ‘Project Freedom’

US President Donald Trump has said that, after the request of other countries, including Pakistan, and progress in ongoing negotiations with Iran, ‘Project Freedom’ related to the movement of ships in the Strait of Hormuz has been temporarily suspended, while the ongoing blockade against Iran will remain in place.

According to a statement issued by the White House on the social media platform X (Twitter), US President Donald Trump said that the United States has achieved ‘major military success’ during the campaign against Iran. He added that significant progress has been made towards a full and final agreement with Iranian representatives.

According to President Trump, both sides have mutually agreed that while the blockade against Iran will continue with full force, “Project Freedom,” which aims to ensure the movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, will be temporarily suspended.

He said that the purpose of this decision is to see whether the ongoing negotiations can be finalized and a formal agreement can be signed. President Trump also expressed hope that this development would help reduce tensions and bring stability to the region.
