RAWALPINDI: Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, NI (M) has extended his heartiest congratulations and felicitations to Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) on his well-deserved promotion to the prestigious rank of Field Marshal, according to a press release from Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

“The CJCSC lauded the COAS’s exceptional leadership, unwavering dedication, and distinguished services to the nation, especially during the recent successfully executed operations Marka e Haq and Bunyanum Marsoos”, read the statement from the military media wing.

Earlier, the government of Pakistan promoted Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir to the rank of Field Marshal on Tuesday.

The promotion was confirmed by the federal Cabinet on the proposal by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The decision is in acknowledgment of his outstanding military leadership during Pakistan’s recent triumph in the Battle of Haq, which followed an unjustified war forced by India on the night of May 6 and 7.

In another significant move, the government has chosen to prolong the tenure of Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu, appreciating his contributions and leadership throughout the recent battle.

The federal cabinet noted that Pakistan’s military accomplishment has not only boosted national morale but has also improved the country’s worldwide position and reputation.
