LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz unveils key initiatives to boost agricultures to boost agriculture, solar energy and industry.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced several transformational initiatives to improves agriculture, solar energy and industrial development in the province. Important decisions were taken during a review meeting on Sunday to accelerate progress in these sectors.

To support agriculture, the Chief Minister directed to distribute an additional 2,000 super Seeders and 10,000 tractors at concessional rates among farmers by February 28. She also launched a program to create model agricultural estates to revive and develop citrus fruits and increase production and exports.

In the solar energy sector, the Chief Minister decided to fast-tract the free solar energy initiative with the completion of renewable energy projects by June, expand coverage to maximum citizens, and covert government building to solar energy. An additional Rs6 billion will be allocated for solar energy projects, including a waste-to-energy fund to be completed by March.

CM Punjab also prioritized industrial development by setting a March deadline for the completion of the ‘Garment Cities’ project and approving a feasibility study for a 300-acre industrial and technology park in Narowal and technology university in Kasur.

Furthermore, the government will implement a monitoring system to educate farmers about modern farming techniques and set up an inspector’s office to expedite agriculture-related recruitment.

Earlier, CM Maryam Nawaz also launched the Dhee Rani Program, a mass marriage initiative to support 1,500 couples, with a budget of Rs1 billion allocated for a program.
