CM Maryam unveils relief package for flood-hit people

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced a financial assistance of Rs 1 million each to the families of those who died in the floods, and Rs 1 million each to those who lost their homes, as well as assistance for the reconstruction of damaged rooms.

She made this announcement during a visit to a flood relief camp on a protective embankment in Jalalpur Peerwala.

During the visit, Maryam Nawaz also announced the construction of a permanent protective embankment for Jalalpur Peerwala and directed to supervise the evacuation operations. She also announced the Gilani Expressway project for Uch Sharif.

Announcing a special package for the flood-affected people of Jalalpur Peerwala, the Chief Minister said that Rs 1 million each will be given to the families of those who died in the floods.

She announced Rs 1 million for completely destroyed houses, Rs 500,000 for partial damage to houses, Rs 500,000 for loss of large livestock and Rs 50,000 for small animals.

In her address, Maryam Nawaz said that she is the daughter of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and is determined to fulfill every promise by ensuring that every loss of flood victims is compensated. She added that although human lives cannot be compensated, all possible support will be provided to the families of the deceased.

She stressed that she had personally visited the flood-affected people of Jalpur Pirwala, noting that many people are still stranded and need rescue. She expressed her commitment to reconstructing houses for everyone affected by the flood.

Maryam Nawaz called the flood victims “our guests” and assured that no one would return home until the flood waters receded, stressing that despite the widespread devastation, every effort was being made to save lives. She reiterated her sympathy and support for the families of the deceased and stressed that efforts were being made for every affected person.
