LAHORE: Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab Maryam Nawaz has announced that the distribution of electric motorcycles will start from July 10.
Addressing the Punjab Assembly in Lahore today, she highlighted the major achievements of his government’s first 100 days and presented a historic, tax-free budget.
The Chief Minister emphasized that no new tax was imposed on the people of Punjab. She also revealed plans to revive the laptop scheme at a cost of Rs 10 billion and launch a program to enroll out-of-school children.
In the health sector, Maryam Nawaz said that free medicines and treatment are being provided in government hospitals. For farmers, she announced measures including interest-free loans and subsidies on agricultural machinery.
It is noteworthy that on April 12, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz launched the Chief Minister’s Youth Initiative, which aims to provide 20,000 electric bikes.
Under the scheme, students can get motorcycles and e-bikes through easy monthly installment plans: male students for Rs 11,676 per month and female students for Rs 7,325 per month.
In urban areas the quota is equally divided between male and female students, while in rural areas, 70 percent of the quota is reserved for male students and 30 percent for female students.
