ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly on Friday passed the tax-heavy finance bill for the next financial year 2024-25, which will add to the hardships of the people but also bring relief to the lawmakers.

In the budget, the federal government has announced an increase in the travel allowance (TA) of the Members of National Assembly (MNA).

TA has been increased from Rs 15 per km to Rs 25 for legislators of the Lower House of Parliament.

Additionally, the number of traveling vouchers for each MNA has been increased from 25 to 30. Vouchers will not be revoked if not used by the Legislature, but will be rolled over to the next year.

The National Assembly passed the Finance Bill 2024 after clause-by-clause consideration, including certain amendments.

Finance and Revenue Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb moved for consideration of the Finance Bill 2024 to implement the financial proposals of the Federal Government for the year commencing July 1, 2024.
