COAS Gen Asim Munir strengthens US-Pak defense ties during official visit

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir is currently on an official visit to the United States, where he held high-level meetings with senior American military and political leadership, as well as interacted with members of the Pakistani diaspora.

During his visit to Tampa, Florida, the Army Chief attended the retirement ceremony of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) outgoing commander General Michael E. Kurilla and the assumption of command by Admiral Brad Cooper. Field Marshal Munir praised General Kurilla’s exceptional leadership and his valuable contributions to strengthening U.S.-Pakistan military ties. He also conveyed his best wishes to Admiral Cooper, expressing confidence that both sides would continue to address shared security challenges through close cooperation.

The Army Chief also held a key meeting with the Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Charles Q. Brown Jr., where matters of professional interest were discussed. Field Marshal Munir extended an invitation to General Brown to visit Pakistan, reaffirming the commitment to enhancing military-to-military cooperation.

In an interactive session with the Pakistani community in the U.S., Field Marshal Asim Munir assured attendees that “Pakistan’s future is bright” and emphasized the important role the diaspora can play in promoting investment and economic development. The community members reiterated their commitment to contribute towards Pakistan’s prosperity and growth.

The visit is seen as another significant step in strengthening U.S.-Pakistan relations, particularly in the defense and security domains.
