COAS Gen Asim Munir urges action on plight of Kashmiris & Palestinians

ISLAMABAD: The plight of Kashmiris and Palestinians calls for urgent action, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir said on Monday as people in the two occupied valleys fight for freedom.

The Army Chief was addressing the 28th annual conference of the International Association of Peacekeeping Training Centers at the Center for International Peace and Stability (CIPS) in Islamabad.

In a statement, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the conference is being held for the first time in Pakistan from November 4 to 8.

Formal inauguration of the ceremony Army Chief General Asim Munir inaugurated the new building of CIPS.

The event was attended by UN Secretary General for Peace Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix, UN Police Advisor, Acting Deputy Military Advisor, Foreign Secretary of Pakistan and Rector of NUST.

In his address, COS General Munir highlighted that global peace is facing “emerging threats and challenges”. He pointed out that despite various efforts by the United Nations and other organizations to bring peace, the plight of Kashmiris and Palestinians serves as a “stark reminder that much remains to be done.”

He said that the problems faced by the people of Kashmir and Palestine call for continuous efforts for peace and shed light on the challenges and threats facing world peace in the contemporary era.

Jean-Pierre Lacroix acknowledged Pakistan’s contribution to UN peacekeeping missions and praised the country for hosting the conference.

Earlier, Lieutenant General Faiz Shah and Inspector General of Training and Evaluation welcomed the Army Chief on his arrival at the ceremony.
