ISLAMABAD: The Meteorological Department has warned that a new series of rains and thunderstorms is expected in the upper parts of the country until July 13.
The Met Office has also forecasted that there is a risk of urban flooding in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Gujranwala, Lahore, and Faisalabad on July 11 and 12.
According to the Department, the humid winds and westerly winds coming from the Arabian Sea will intensify further from Saturday evening, due to which there is a possibility of rain in various areas of Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Gilgit Baltistan, northeast Balochistan, and upper Sindh.
The department has warned that landslides may occur in the hilly areas of Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, and Kashmir, while water flow in the rain drains of Dera Ghazi Khan may increase.
There is a possibility of damage to weak structures, solar panels, electricity poles, and advertisement boards due to thunderstorms and lightning.
The Meteorological Department has advised tourists and travelers to avoid unnecessary travel and exercise caution, while saying that the intensity of heat and humidity will decrease due to the rains.
