ISLAMABAD: Army Chief General Asim Munir said that Pakistan is ready to play a significant role in the international mineral economy.

Addressing the Pakistan Mineral Investment Forum 2025 held in Islamabad, he invited global institutions to bring their expertise to Pakistan, explore investment opportunities and collaborate in unlocking the country’s mineral potential.

General Munir highlighted the important role of technical professionals such as engineers, geologists and mining experts in advancing the sector. He said that Pakistani students are being sent abroad for capacity building, with 27 students from Balochistan currently undergoing mineral exploration training in Zambia and Argentina.

He said that the development of skilled human resources is the main objective of strengthening the industry.

Stressing the link between economy and national security, the Army Chief said that the Pakistan Army will ensure strong security measures to protect the interests of investors and maintain confidence.

He reiterated his commitment to promote both upstream and downstream development in the minerals sector, adding that investment in local refining and value-added processes is essential to reduce costs and increase market access.

With mineral reserves, capable hands, and a transparent policy framework, General Munir stressed that Pakistan cannot afford to remain stagnant.

He assured international stakeholders of Pakistan’s trust as a strong and reliable partner, and acknowledged the support of Baloch tribal leaders in supporting mining initiatives and regional development.

He concluded by expressing his belief that joint efforts will pave the way for prosperity, sustainable growth, and balanced regional development.
