RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi High Court bench granted bail to Engineer Mirza Muhammad Ali in a religious hatred case and ordered his immediate release.
Justice Sadaqat Khan, judge of the Rawalpindi Bench of the High Court, while granting bail, ordered Engineer Mirza Muhammad Ali to submit two surety bonds worth Rs. 5.5 million.
The FIA Cyber Crime Wing had registered a case against Engineer Mirza Muhammad Ali for insulting sacred figures.
According to the FIA lawyer, a formal fatwa has been issued against the accused. The court said that they should take the fatwa to the trial court and only argue about bail. The trial court has to see the details, evidence and fatwa.
Meanwhile, religious scholar Engineer Mirza Muhammad Ali filed a petition in the Lahore High Court against the FIA investigation.
Additionally, Engineer Mirza Muhammad Ali has filed a petition through Advocate Nabeel Javed Kahlon, in which the FIA and the Punjab Quran Board have been made parties.
The petition requests that the court declare the fatwa against the petitioner null and void and order the investigation to be terminated.
