MUZAFFARABAD: The Azad Kashmir High Court has ordered the restoration of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) election symbol of a bat.

A larger bench headed by Chief Justice of the Azad Kashmir High Court Justice Shahid Bihar delivered the verdict on a petition filed by President Tehreek-e-Insaf Azad Kashmir and former Prime Minister Abdul Qayyum Niaz.

During the hearing of the case, the larger bench of the Azad Kashmir High Court ordered the Election Commission of Azad Kashmir and the government of Azad Kashmir to appear in court and also issued formal notices to submit a detailed explanation on the entire matter.

The Azad Kashmir High Court, while giving a major verdict in favor of PTI, ordered the Election Commission to register Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf as a political party.

After this court decision, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf candidates in Azad Kashmir will be able to contest elections on the election symbol of a bat.

It should be noted that the Election Commission of Azad Kashmir had cancelled the political membership and registration of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, against which the PTI had approached the court.
