KARACHI: Karachi police made a breakthrough in the abduction case of Mustafa Amir, discovering a burned car with a charred body inside in Hub, Balochistan.
According to DIG Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) Muqaddas Haider, investigations revealed that the suspect, Armughan, murdered Mustafa Amir and later moved his body to Hub and destroyed it by burning the car in an attempt to destroy evidence.
The police have recovered bloodstained carpets from Armughan’s residence, which matched the DNA samples collected from the victim’s body. Mustafa Amir was reported missing on January 6, with a kidnapping case registered.
The police arrested the prime suspect Armughan Sahib from the Defence area of Karachi who was also involved in cryptocurrency and some illegal activities.
Police consider that Mustafa Amir was called to Armughan’s house, where a quarrel ensued, leading to his murder. During their investigations, the police recovered 64 laptops and a mobile phone from Armughan’s house and arrested two employees.
They also seized over Rs5 million, which was said to have accrued through illegal channels. Now the police are inquiring into the income streams for Armughan and the source of the recovered money.
To verify additional details in the case, the police have sent for DNA samples from the victim’s family in an attempt to match them with the recovered body.
The body, which was found inside the car, was burned beyond the point of recognition and has been transferred to cold storage pending further investigation.
Earlier, Mustafa went missing from Armughans house where he went to learn cryptocurrency trading.
