ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took notice of the undue delay in tax cases and suspended the senior tax officers on Tuesday.
Taking notice of the willful delay in tax cases, the Prime Minister suspended Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue Islamabad along with his staff and ordered an inquiry, PM Office Media Wing said in a press release.
PM Shehbaz Sharif since assuming office has been directly monitoring the implementation of reforms in the Federal Board Of Revenue.

According to the press release, billions of rupees worth of tax cases are pending before tax tribunals and the premie had also requested Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa to help expedite the disposal of these cases.
Earlier, the Prime Minister had also taken notice of an adjournment of a case sought by an FBR lawyer before a court. Shehbaz Sharif said billions of rupees are spent on fighting legalities in courts.
PM Shehzab said that he would not tolerate any unnecessary delay will not be tolerated in pursuit of such legal matters and will continue monitoring the tax reforms.
