ISLAMABAD: The federal government has issued a new policy imposing a five-year travel ban on citizens deported from abroad, according to media reports.
Individuals deported due to criminal offences and undesirable activities shall be put on the special list, halting them from travelling for five years.
The federal Minister for Interior, Mohsin Naqvi, has formally issued a notification to enforce the new Passport Control List (PCL) Policy.
The written response to the Senate clearly distinguishes that the travel ban will only be applied to those deported for illegal actions, criminal charges, or other “undesirable” activities.
The regulation further stipulates that the restriction may be extended for a period longer than five years, upon proper request and thorough justification by the foreign government agency.
The purpose of the federal cabinet-approved passport regulations is to keep an eye on and regulate the actions of those who have a history of misbehavior in foreign countries.
