Divorce case, wife throws acid on husband in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: A woman threw acid on her husband in the Gujar Khan police station area of ​​Rawalpindi.

According to the police, the victim had come to the union council office regarding the divorce case. When the victim left the UC office, the woman threw acid.

Police said that the person injured by the acid was shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, while the woman who threw acid on her husband was arrested.

According to the police, a case has been registered on the complaint of the victim, however, further investigation into the incident is underway.

Dr Mahnoor Nasir, the young doctor injured in an acid attack at a government hospital in Quetta, is undergoing treatment at Aga Khan University Hospital in Karachi, where doctors say her condition is stable and improving.

Meanwhile, Balochistan Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar said investigations revealed that the suspect, identified as Humayun Shah, had allegedly been harassing Dr Mahnoor for several months before the attack.

According to the minister, evidence recovered from the suspect’s mobile phone indicated repeated attempts to establish a personal relationship with the doctor.

“He had been harassing her for a long time. Investigators discovered this after examining his mobile phone,” the minister said.

Dr Mahnoor, a postgraduate trainee in general surgery at Sandeman Provincial Hospital Quetta, was initially shifted to a private medical facility in Quetta before being transferred to Karachi at the request of her family.

Officials said the Balochistan government is closely monitoring her treatment, while doctors remain hopeful of her full recovery.

According to hospital sources, Dr Mahnoor sustained approximately 13 percent burns. The acid affected areas around both eyes, but her eyesight remains intact. She also suffered burn injuries to her face, abdomen, and right hand.

Upon her arrival in Karachi, specialists, including plastic surgeons and ophthalmologists, conducted detailed examinations and diagnostic tests. She has been shifted to a Special Care Unit and remains under close observation.

Hospital officials said all major organs are safe and her condition is out of danger. While the corneas of both eyes were slightly affected, doctors confirmed that her vision has not been compromised. Her treatment will continue under the supervision of eye specialists, while plastic surgeons and other medical experts remain involved in her care.
