Funeral and burial of former Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei announced

TEHRAN: The funeral and burial of former Iranian Supreme Leader Seyyed Ali Khamenei has been announced.

According to a report by the Iranian News Agency, the funeral and burial of former Iranian Supreme Leader Seyyed Ali Khamenei, who was martyred as a result of US and Israeli attacks, will be held after Ashura Muharram.

The report stated that the final date and time for the funeral and burial of martyr Seyyed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has not yet been officially announced.

Iranian officials say that the relevant headquarters will soon announce a detailed schedule and arrangements for the funeral and burial of former Supreme Leader Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

According to Iranian media, Seyyed Ali Khamenei was martyred in Tehran on February 28, 2026 as a result of US and Israeli attacks, while Iranian state media confirmed his martyrdom the next day.

According to reports, significant political and religious changes took place in Iran after the attack, and Khamenei’s son, Mojtaba Khamenei, was appointed the country’s new supreme leader.

A few days ago, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi revealed in an interview that he was also present in Khamenei’s office on the day of the attack, but he was safe.

The Iranian public and religious circles are awaiting the official announcement of Khamenei’s funeral prayer and burial, while preparations for his last rites are underway after Ashura.
