Iran faces another Earthquake

TEHRAN: A 5.5-magnitude earthquake was recorded in Iran’s western province of Kermanshah on Monday morning, causing panic and fear in various areas and citizens came out of their homes and shops as a precaution.

However, according to initial reports, no casualties or property damage were reported as a result of the earthquake.

According to the European Seismological Center, the earthquake was recorded at a magnitude of 5.5, while its epicenter was located near the city of Kozran in western Iran.

The Iranian news agency IRNA reported that the depth of the earthquake was recorded at 8 kilometers, due to which the tremors were felt relatively intensely.

According to the report, the earthquake occurred at 7:13 am local time, its epicenter was about 17 kilometers from Kozran and about 65 kilometers from the provincial capital Kermanshah.

As soon as the tremors were felt, citizens panicked and a large number of people gathered in open places as a precautionary measure. The local administration and relief agencies immediately started assessing the situation, but so far there has been no confirmation of any building collapse or major damage.

Authorities say that the affected areas are being continuously monitored and the relevant agencies are on alert to deal with any emergency.

Experts have advised citizens to take precautionary measures in view of possible aftershocks and follow the instructions issued by government agencies.
