ANKARA: A 5.0-magnitude earthquake struck Turkiye’s eastern province of Malatya this morning.
According to Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the earthquake struck at 6:20 am local time (6:20 pm Pakistan time).
AFAD said the epicenter of the earthquake was in the Battalgazi district, while its depth was recorded at 15.59 km.
The tremors were also felt in the nearby provinces of Elazig, Adiyaman, Tunç Ali, and Sanliurfa. AFAD said that, according to initial reports, no casualties or material damage have been reported as a result of the earthquake.
Murat Korum, Turkiye’s Minister of Environment, Urban Development and Climate Change, said in a statement on the social media platform NSosyal that no negative situation has been reported so far after the Battalgazi earthquake, but all reports received are being reviewed.
