LAHORE: The second spell of monsoon rains will begin in Punjab from tomorrow, according to the PDMA spokesperson.
Strong winds, thunderstorms, and rains are predicted in most districts of the province from July 19 to 24. The second spell of monsoon rains has the possibility of more rain in a short time.
The PDMA spokesperson says that there is a possibility of heavy rain in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujarat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Faisalabad, Khushab, Sargodha, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib and Chiniot.
Rain is also expected in Lahore, Faisalabad, Khushab, Sargodha, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Noorpur Thal, Bhakkar, Mianwali, Layyah, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Kot Addo, Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur.
According to the PDMA spokesperson, there is a risk of urban flooding in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Multan, and Faisalabad; there is a risk of flooding in local rivers, Nala Lai, Kashmir, Murree, Galiat, and rainwater drains of North-East Punjab. DG PDMA Omar Abbas Mela has instructed the commissioners and deputy commissioners across the province to remain alert.
