Dr. Abdul Halim, grandson of former PM AJ&k Abdul Hamid Khan, passed away

MUZAFFARABAD: Dr. Abdul Halim Khan, grandson of former Prime Minister and President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Khan Abdul Hamid Khan, passed away.

Renowned dental surgeon Dr. Abdul Halim Khan passed away in Peshawar. The deceased was suffering from heart disease. Dr. Abdul Halim Khan was the elder brother of Member of Legislative Assembly Abdul Majid Khan and brother of Abdul Mateen Khan (UK).

The deceased was a sincere and professional dental surgeon as well as a very kind, sociable and humble person. His funeral prayers will be offered today at 2 pm at Eidgah Mosque in Muzaffarabad, after which he will be buried in his ancestral graveyard in Muzaffarabad.

Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, PML-N President Shah Ghulam Qadir and Pakistan Peoples Party President Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin expressed grief and sorrow over the death of Dr. Hakeem.

Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan and Senior Supreme Court Judge Justice Raza Ali Khan also expressed their grief and sorrow over the death of Dr. Haleem in their separate statements, condoling with the bereaved family and praying that the Almighty God may grant Dr. Haleem a high place in heaven.

Dr. Haleem was also the Executive Director of Jinnah Dental Hospital and was due to retire in February. His death has left his family, colleagues and friends deeply saddened.

Dr. Abdul Haleem Khan breathed his last at the Peshawar Institute of Cardiology, where he had been undergoing treatment for several weeks for multiple complications due to a serious heart condition.

Dr. Abdul Halim Khan also suffered a major personal tragedy in the devastating earthquake of October 2005, in which his parents Abdul Waheed Khan and mother Shireen Wahid, who were members of the Azad Kashmir cabinet at the time, were killed. His three children also lost their lives in this tragedy, while a total of 21 family members were victims of this disaster.
