PESHAWAR: The opposition alliance Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Ayeen-e-Pakistan (TTAP)has demanded new clean and transparent elections in the country and said that an investigation should be conducted into the rigging in the February 8, 2024 elections and has made it clear that the opposition is ready for talks.
The declaration of the two-day National Consultative Conference organized byTehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Ayeen-e-Pakistan said that the building of democracy stands on transparent elections. In order to restore the public’s trust in the transfer of power, Tehreek-e-Tahafuz Ain Pakistan demands the appointment of a new Chief Election Commissioner and the holding of new clean and transparent elections.
The opposition alliance has said that the National Conference demands that an investigation be conducted into the rigging in the February 2024 elections and strongly condemns the attacks on the judiciary, the 26th and 27th constitutional amendments.
The statement said that the conference expresses solidarity with all judges including Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri, Justice Athar Minallah, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and strongly condemns the ill-treatment meted out to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, his wife, his sisters and political leaders.
The National Conference demanded that all political prisoners including PTI founder Imran Khan, his wife and Dr. Yasmin Rashid be released immediately, and the ban on meetings with Imran Khan and his wife be lifted immediately.
The opposition alliance also demanded that the fog surrounding sending the Pakistani army to Gaza be lifted and everyone be taken into confidence.
The statement said that the National Conference demands that the rising inflation in the country be reduced, taxes imposed on the people be reduced, people are condemned for disappearing, and the release of Maharang Baloch and others is demanded.
The government was demanded to follow the agreed course of action of the peace jirga held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the ban on PTI should be lifted.
The statement further said that the Movement for the Protection of the Constitution of Pakistan demands negotiations to improve the deteriorating situation with Afghanistan.
On provincial issues, it was demanded that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa be given its share in the NFC, minerals cannot be given to anyone without the will of the people of the province, so the people of the province regarding minerals should be taken into confidence. The statement said that the opposition is ready for negotiations.
The national conference statement said that we will observe February 8 as an international black day and a central committee has been formed to mobilize the people. Instructions for a street movement have also come from the founder PTI.
Consultative conferences will be organized in the provincial headquarters in this regard. The opposition also demanded the lifting of the ban on the student union.
