ISLAMABAD: Senior politician Muhammad Ali Durrani said that Islam is based on love, forgiveness, and tolerance; it was not spread by the force of the sword.

According to him, whether the powerful or the weak in society, both will have to adopt the path of forgiveness and tolerance, because every powerful person can become the weak of tomorrow and every weak person can become the strong of tomorrow.

He said that the solution to the nation’s problems is not in fights but in harmony, dialogue, and tolerance. The real path to democracy is through the court and the vote.

The one whom the people voted for is not in power, and the one who did not vote for is in power today; this is the root of our problems.

Talking about accountability, Muhammad Ali Durrani said that reforming society is not possible without correct and transparent accountability. But there is no way out of getting entangled in the accountability of the past. Every incoming ruler calls the previous one a thief.

If punishment is to be given, it should be given for the current crime, and old issues should be forgotten. According to him, only the one who has been given the authority by the people can be punished, and this authority lies only with the court and the people.

He was speaking on ABN News’ program Tajzia, where he said that on February 8, the People’s Court had decided to come to life. The real game in politics is not popularity but acceptance, and if the game is played by sitting in responsible positions, then justice becomes weak.

Muhammad Ali Durrani said that this country stands on the shoulders of the middle class, while the rich are busy with properties abroad, and the houses of the poor are becoming ruins. According to him, real change is possible only when the powerful and the weak are all judged on the same standard.

PTI Core Committee member and legal expert Abuzar Salman Niazi has said in his statement that the Article 184(3) petition should not be considered an individual case but a case of public interest. According to him, the Registrar’s declaration of the petition of the High Court judges as an individual matter is an unconstitutional and illegal interpretation.

Abuzar Niazi said that it is not easy for judges to question the powers of the Chief Justice, but when it is a matter of the constitution and supremacy of justice, this debate is inevitable. He clarified that the only way for judges at this time is to go to the chamber appeal.

Criticizing the legal community, he said that today most lawyers have become entangled in the politics of personal interests and plots, due to which the focus on the rule of law, democracy, and an independent judiciary has decreased. According to him, if lawyers do not return to their original responsibilities, public confidence in the judiciary will be further affected.
