ECP notifies restoration of reserved seats following Supreme Court ruling

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued a notification for the restoration of reserved seats after the Supreme Court’s decision.

According to the Election Commission, five reserved seats for women from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been restored in the National Assembly. The Muslim League (N) and the PPP have secured two seats each, while the JUI-F has secured one seat from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Eleven reserved seats for women in the National Assembly from Punjab have been restored, out of which 10 seats have been allocated to the Muslim League (N) and one to the PPP.

Three seats for minorities have also been restored in the National Assembly, out of which the Muslim League (N), the PPP and the JUI-F have got one minority seat each.

Reserved Seats in Provincial Assemblies

21 reserved seats for women have been restored in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, of which JUI has got 8, (N) League 6, and PPP 5 seats, while Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarians and ANP have also got one reserved seat each.

Four minority seats have also been restored in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, of which JUI has got 2, Nawaz League and PPP have got one minority seat each.

24 reserved seats for women have been restored in the Punjab Assembly, of which 21 seats have been given to (N) League, one to PPP, one to Istehkam Pakistan Party, and one to Muslim League (Q).

According to the Election Commission, 3 minority seats have been restored in the Punjab Assembly, of which the (N) League has got 2 minority seats and the PPP has got one seat, while 2 reserved seats for women have been restored in the Sindh Assembly, of which one women’s seat has been given to the PPP and one to the MQM.

The Election Commission has withdrawn the notification declaring the successful candidates on general seats as candidates of the Tehreek-e-Insaf. These candidates had won general seats from the National Assembly, Punjab Assembly, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, and Sindh Assembly.
