LAHORE: Pakistan Railways has suspended all officers’ leaves in Lahore Division to ensure continued train operations, which will help to maintain passenger comfort during the Eid al-Fitr holiday.

The decision comes under the directives of Divisional Superintendent Inamullah. Divisional Transportation Officer Syeda Marzia Zahra issued an official notification that requires all officers to stay at railway stations throughout the three days of Eid.

Officers will monitor train schedules, oversee passenger flow, and ensure operational efficiency. Officials have been told to ensure trains run on time, maintain cleanliness at stations, washing lines, and other facilities, and address passenger concerns promptly.

The duties will continue until March 23 because they must cover operations between the Eid period and Pakistan Day weekend, when passenger traffic will increase.

The federal government had previously announced March 20 and 21, 2026, as official holidays for Eid al-Fitr. Government employees receive four consecutive days off because March 22 falls on a Sunday and March 23 is a public holiday for Pakistan Day.

Railway authorities emphasized that the leave suspension is temporary but necessary to guarantee uninterrupted train operations during peak travel periods.

Passengers must plan their journeys based on station guidelines, which they should follow during their travel. Pakistan Railways has made this decision to demonstrate its dedication to delivering effective services while providing safe operations during periods of high passenger volume, which occur on national holidays and festivals.
